Seniors deserve to remain in the homes and neighborhoods they love.
As Mayor, Sophia will develop a Senior Community Care Program to allocate resources for additional senior centers and services in underserved communities to help older Chicagoans age in place.
- As Mayor, Sophia will collaborate with HUD to increase landlords’ accountability to seniors housing units and tenants.
- Develop additional property tax incentives to ensure Seniors are able to maintain their homes.
- Sophia will coordinate with the council to develop a Seniors’ Bill of Rights focused on protecting our most vulnerable from scammers, bad landlords and predatory practices.
- Accelerate the rehabilitation of senior homes with new amenities, safety features and programming that accommodate the needs of older residents.
